The cottage is two levels, each 1,000 square feet. It is thoroughly winterized, well insulated and heated, and built to modern standards–the exterior is all finished in a lovely rustic cedar. In addition, there is a large, 12′ by 24′ screened porch (visible at right). Although there’s lots of space, we eat most of our meals on the screened porch–looking out into nature. The lot has 250+ feet of private shoreline. The slope of the lake bottom is very gradual, so we built a 100 foot long dock out into the water–plenty of room for lounging in the sun. The cottage has a 14′ by 52′ deck on the front, and a 10′ by 52′ sun deck on the back, connected by the screened porch for wrap around space.
The upstairs is all open living space–dining room, living room, huge, modern kitchen, and a bathroom. The cathedral ceiling adds to the feeling of spaciousness. The bedrooms (and the main bathroom) are all located on the ground floor, making them cool for a relaxing nap on hot days.
Most of the front part of the property is flat and grassy–a great place for all sorts of outdoor games, lots of sun, and an easy walk to the water.
